FAQ
Q: Who is eligible for accommodations?
Students are encouraged to talk to a member of Student Access and Accommodation Services if they have questions regarding their eligibility to receive accommodations.
Q: Who do I contact with questions?
Students may contact Erica Stubblefield, Assistant Director, Center for Student Success, via email at Erica_Stubblefield@bshsi.org.
Q: Do I need to tell my professors?
Once registered, yes. The SAAS team will give you an Accommodations Memo and guide you through the steps to share it with your faculty.
Q: Is my information private?
Yes. Disability information is confidential and only shared with faculty/staff who need to know. It will only be released if:
- You give written permission
- It's required by law
- It's need to help with your education
Q: What are my responsibilities?
- Complete the SAAS Request and Disclosure Form.
- Provide documentation from a qualified professional (you cover any costs)
- Request accommodations as early as possible (reviews can take up to 2 weeks)
Note: Accommodations aren't retroactive - you can't redo past work once they're approved.
Q: How is my documentation reviewed?
- Each request is reviewed individually
- You'll meet with staff to discuss your needs, ask and answer questions, and create a plan
- Accommodations are based on how your condition affects you in class and/or clinical - not just your diagnosis
- They may look different for each student and learning environment
