Testimonials

“As an older student, going to school for nursing terrified me because  I didn’t know what to expect.  But from the first day of orientation to the day of graduation I was never alone. I felt nothing but support from the instructors and faculty. They shared my awkward moments, my tears, and my triumphs.  They knew my first name and always spoke words of encouragement. Everyone there wants you to succeed and will do everything possible to help you. The instructors have a wealth of knowledge and real-life experience that I recall and use every single shift. I would highly recommend Southside College of Health Science nursing program to anyone.“

-Di’Anna Cooper, RN – Class of Fall 2019

“As a Southside College of Health Sciences Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) graduate I have had many new and exciting experiences, both on campus and in the clinical setting. The DMS program was the best opportunity I have ever had. The teachers went above and beyond to ensure my success. The faculty at the school were very helpful with all of my needs such as student loans, application questions, and general information. The small class size made learning easy. Choosing Southside was a wonderful decision towards obtaining my career goals! Absolutely the best decision of my life!”

-Leianna Gladden, RDMS (AB, OB/GYN) – Class of April 2020

“My journey in medical imaging begins during high school when I attended the Explorer’s Program at Southside Regional Medical Center. Shortly thereafter, I enrolled in the Radiation Sciences program at the hospital. Upon graduation, I started working as a radiologic technologist in the medical imaging field and continuing my education eventually earning a master’s degree. I begin teaching in the lab at the same Radiation Sciences program that I had graduated. I found a passion in educating students and knew this was the next step in my career. I started teaching more courses and begin exploring the management side of educational programs. I am now the Program Director for the Southside College of Health Sciences School of Radiation Sciences which affords me the honor of ensuring students are receiving the best educational experience.”

-Stacey Shell, MSED, R.T.(R)(BD) – Class of May 2003

“Southside College of Health Sciences curriculum was challenging, but with the supportive instructors and clinical educators, I felt prepared for taking the NCLEX, as well as entering the nursing field. Hands on clinical experiences that were offered early on in the program helped me become a more competent nurse.   Smaller class sizes and clinical groups were conducive to learning and allowed me to to establish more personal relationships with professors and peers. My experiences at Southside College of Health Sciences led me to find my passion in caring for cardiac patients.”

-Kristen Carter, RN, PCCN – Class of May 2017

“I am very appreciative of the education I received at Southside College of Health Sciences (SCHS) Radiation Sciences program. The teachers gave us all the tools we needed to be successful in our careers. The foundation of the curriculum is phenomenal. When I sat for my registry I had no doubt in my mind that I would pass because the last few weeks of class we focused on Mock registry exams. In this program I didn’t just feel like a number in a classroom, each teacher had their own personal supportive nature to push me to my full potential. I brag all the time that SCHS has the BEST Radiation Sciences program around.”

-Kenara Hepburn-Wiley R.T. (R) – Class of May 2015
